PORTLAND, Ore. - The Western Oregon University men's basketball team played the first of a three game exhibition stretch as it fell 108-65 to Portland State, Wednesday (Nov. 4).
The Wolves received very encouraging efforts from
Rico Myles and
Gabe Thrash in the frontcourt. Myles poured in 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go along with seven rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes of play. Thrash added 10 points off the bench as he went 5-of-8 from the field.
The difference in the game was from the three-point line where the Wolves went just 3-for-15 (20-percent) and the Vikings converted on 15-of-29 attempts (51.7-percent). Western Oregon did manage to hang with PSU on the boards losing the battle by just five, 39-34.
The team will now travel to Corvallis to face the Oregon State Beavers Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1:00 p.m. Before the game the WOU men's basketball will hold pregame festivities, where supporters of the program can join Western Oregon President Dr. John Minahan and members of the team for a social. Events will start at 10:30 a.m., with meet-and-greet and be followed with a lunch at the Corvallis Country Club at 11:00 a.m.
