McMINNVILLE, Ore.
- Jacque Helbling and Mand Keifer of the Western Oregon University track and field team stand one-two in the women's heptathlon after day one of the Linfield Multi-Events Meet, Monday, Mar. 23.

Helbling leads the 14-women field with 2,411 points through four events. Keifer is in second place with 2,285 points, 25 points ahead of third place.

Zeb Udell is representing the men's tack and field team. He is currently in fifth place in the 20-man field with 3,269 points, 225 points behind the leader.

"This is an important meet for all three of our student-athletes as they have not had a combined-event meet since last April," explained Western Oregon head coach Mike Johnson. "This is the first chance for all three to get back into multi-event competition as they work on their rhythm, management skills and focus for the next event."

Throughout the meet the competitors battled the cold, high winds and the rain at Maxwell Field.

"This is a meet we need to qualify for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference meet," noted Johnson.
