Wolves take opener in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES - Despite a slow start, scoring only eight points in the opening 10-minute quarter, the Wolves pulled away for a 55-43 victory over Argentina in their first game of the foreign Friendship tour. WOU made all three of their three-point baskets (two by Sara Zahler and one by AJ Hawk) in the decisive fourth quarter as they outscored their hosts 17-10 to seal the win.

Katie Torland paced the visitors with a double-double, (16 points and 11 rebounds) while Kristen Hein chipped in with 11 points and Zahler added 9 points. A trio of Wolves, Hein, Zahler and Danielle Bellando also pulled down nine rebounds apiece.

The tour continues tomorrow, Friday, June 19th with game 2 against another team from Buenos Aires.
