MONMOUTH, Ore. - Western Oregon University Senior Woman Administrator and assistant softball coach Jami Strinz was honored with the Judy Sweet Spirit Award at the 2009 Denver NCAA Women's Coaches Academy.

The Judy Sweet Spirit Award is used to recognize members of the 2009 WCA class who's spirit and willingness to share and live her story with integrity and perspective for her own and others personal and professional success.

"I was completely shocked and surprised to win this award," Strinz recalled. "I had no idea that others saw me like that."

This was the first season for Strinz at Western Oregon but she has been in the college coaching ranks for the past few seasons with stops at Knox, Beloit and George Fox. On the WOU softball team her main duties include pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.

Strinz was one of two recipients of the award as Linda Muri, an assistant coach on Harvard's men's crew team was the other. The Judy Sweet award is handed out at each WCA convention throughout the year. There will be three conventions this year with the next scheduled in Atlanta June 6-10.
