T&F: Five Wolves earn top 10 marks

- Five members of the Western Oregon University track & field team earned their place on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list while numerous others achieved Great Northwest Athletic Conference qualifying marks, Sunday (Feb. 7) at the Pilot Indoor.

The women's mile race highlighted the meet for Western Oregon. Erica Snawder placed her name fifth on both the Wolves' all-time list and the 2010 GNAC performance list with a time of 5:12.38. Tricia Morrison posted a time of 5:18.16 in the event to ascended to sixth on the GNAC list and to 10th on the Wolves' all-time list.

Amanda Wright jumped to sixth in the school-record books with a time of 10:47.84 in the 3000m. She also placed her name ninth on the 2010 GNAC performance list with that time.

Jason Slowey recorded a toss of 49-5.75 (15.08m) in the shot put for the longest mark in the GNAC this season. His throw of 49-5.75 also shot him into seventh place on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list.

Karah Ambrose cleared 5-1.75 (1.57m) in the high jump to move into third place on the 2010 GNAC performance list and to 10th in the Wolves' all-time record book.

Crystal McDowell posted strong performances in the sprint events winning the 200m and 400m at the Pilot Indoor. First she won the 400m with a time of 1:01.25 and followed that with another win in the 200m, as she recorded a time of 27.25. Her time in the 400m places her eighth on the 2010 GNAC performance list.

Dustin Boyd won the 200m on the men's side with a season-best time of 23.45.

The Western Oregon track & field team will be back in action this weekend (Feb. 13 & 15) at the Husky Classic and UW Open in Seattle. This will be the team's last meet before the GNAC Indoor Championships, Feb. 20th, in Nampa, Idaho.
