ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Annan Applebee ran a 2:16.35 in the preliminaries of the 800m at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships, Friday (Mar. 12), however it was not enough to get her into the finals.

“The race field went out fast today,” explained Western Oregon head coach Mike Johnson. “She ran a really good race through the first 600m but circumstances dictated the final 200m and she could not finish as strong as she would have liked.

“We are very proud of Annan getting to nationals and she will be ready to go come the outdoor season,” Johnson continued. “We will learn from this, and come back next year and be better.”

Applebee set the Western Oregon school record earlier in the season with a 2:11.43 at the UW Invitational, as she shot to the top of the Division II performance list.

This is the second straight season Applebee has qualified for the indoor nationals. Last season, she finished 10th.
