White earns softball pitcher of the week

MONMOUTH, Ore. - Kelsey White of the Western Oregon University softball team has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 8-14.

White, a freshman from Salem, Ore. (South Salem High School), allowed just one run in 12.1 innings covering three games as the Wolves won three of four games at Saint Martin's. White was credited with the victory in two of the games as she improved her record to 4-0. She currently leads the GNAC with a 1.20 earned run average.

The Western Oregon softball team will return home Friday, Mar. 19, to begin a four-game series against Northwest Nazarene. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Jason Slowey led the Western Oregon men's track & field team with 22 points at the 2010 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships.
