MONMOUTH, Ore. -
Mike Johnson's reign as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) West Region Men's Indoor Coach of the Year continues, as he was selected for the award for the third consecutive season by a panel of national coaches, Friday (Mar. 5).
In his seventh season at the helm of the Western Oregon program, Johnson led the Wolves to their third consecutive GNAC Indoor Championship. Western Oregon edged Western Washington for the conference title 171-161.5, scoring points in every event, setting two conference meet records, and winning five event championships. The Wolves achieved a total of seven NCAA provisional qualifying marks during the indoor season.
This indoor season Western Oregon men have placed 31 men on the school's all-time top 10 list and earned six school records.
