MONMOUTH, Ore.
- Construction on the new Western Oregon University baseball field turf project is underway. WOU will be stripping away the previous infield and replacing the entire infield, save the pitching mound, and the foul areas to the dugouts with a synthetic sport surface.

Pro Turf Solutions out of Durango, Colo., was selected to be the installer of the high quality synthetic sport surface. They are currently over a week into the job and have anywhere from one to two weeks remaining on the project.

Western Oregon head baseball coach Jeremiah Robbins believes the installations of this surface will help elevate a Wolves' program, which has already won nine straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference titles, to the next level. "Our biggest excitement is the opportunities we will be allowed because of this facility," Robbins said. "We will now have 22 home games (compared to 16 in 2010), which will allow our kids to be in class more, our team to have a better schedule and give us one of the best facilities in the Northwest.

"Our support on campus and from the administration has been second to none," Robbins continued. "We are very excited to get out on it and this will add even more inspiration to this club."
