SALEM, Ore. - Western Oregon University's soccer team posted 15 shots to Corban's 11, but it was the Warriors' shots that found the mark. Corban converted three of its six shots on goal and took the exhibition between the two local schools 3-0, on Wednesday, Aug. 25.
Amber Kliewer notched the shutout for Corban which included five saves. The goals for the Warriors were added by Audrey Sullivan, Emily Tsugawa and Rileigh Mankin.
The match was deadlocked at zeros into the 43rd minute of the first half until Mankin snuck a penalty kick past Wolves' goalie
Brittney Rigtrup. This would prove to be the game-winning goal.
Sophomore forward
Marina Austin led Western Oregon with three shots on goal and five shots overall. The Wolves also got two shots apiece from
Naomi Shimabuku,
Taylor Thompson and
Cori Young.
Western Oregon's next match will be on the road at Rohnert Park, Calif., against Sonoma State on Sept. 2, at 4:00 p.m.
