MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Western Oregon University baseball program will host six camps between October and January to assist local youth and high school baseball players in their preparation for the upcoming season.
Each camp will focus on the development of specific baseball skills and techniques. The camps will be held at the Physical Education Building and on the WOU baseball field, which now features field turf. The camps are open to anyone 8-18 years of age.
The Wolves will offer one-day infield skills and drills camps on Sunday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 28. Both camps will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The cost for each of these camps is $80 per camper.
The pitching and catching camp will be held Dec. 18-19. Saturday's session will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with Sunday's session beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at noon. The cost is $130 per camper.
Western Oregon baseball will also offer two camps which focus on hitting. The WOU hitting skills and drills camps will be held on Nov. 13-14 and on Dec. 18-19. Both camps will be $130 per camper and will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m., to noon on Sunday.
The final camp will be the all-skills camp which will be held Jan. 29-30. The camp will run on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The cost for the all-skills camp will be $130 per camper.
All camps will be hosted by Western Oregon baseball coach Jeremiah Robbins. His squad won its 10th straight conference championship (five under Robbins), and finished the year with a 34-15 record which included a 23-game conference winning. Robbins was also named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the fifth straight season. Prior to taking over the Wolves baseball program he earned the Oregon 3A Coach of the Year in 2004 at Douglas High School.
