MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Western Oregon University softball team will be hosting a quartet of clinics in January to assist local youth in preparation for the upcoming season.
The Winter Softball Clinics will feature a session for catcher's only, another for pitching and two for position play and hitting. The camps will include instruction from the WOU coaching staff and members of the 2012 Wolves' softball team.
The catcher's only camp will teach players on everything they want to know about the position from blocking, to framing, throwing and much more. The camp will be on Sunday, Jan. 22nd from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m., and is $85 per camper.
The pitching clinic will take place on Saturday, January 14th and will feature four sessions based on age. The first session will be for children ages 7-11 and it will run from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The next session will be for ages 12-14 and will go from 11:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m. The final two sessions will focus on the high school age pitcher. The first will run from 1:30-3:30 p.m., and is for ages 16-18. The second from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and is for ages 14-18. The cost of these sessions will be $35 apiece.
The position play and hitting camps will be held on both Sunday, January 15th and Sunday, Jan. 29th. The first session will be for all outfielders and any infielder of high school age. It will begin at 1:00 p.m., and end at 5:00 p.m. The second camp will be for ages 7-14. It will run from 1:00 p.m., and end at 4:30 p.m. The cost will be $50 per camper.
