SEATTLE - The Western Oregon men's distance medley relay team broke the school record in the event for the third straight meet, this time at the Flotrack Husky Classic on Friday, Feb. 11.
Once again it was
Kyle Larson and
Chris Reed running the starting and anchor legs of the race, but this time it was
Matt Kaino in the 400 meter portion and
Connor Kasler in the 800m.
After Larson got the relay team off on the right foot with a split of 2:58 in the 1,200m portion of the race the other members of the team continued to shave time before registering a Great Northwest Athletic Conference record time of 9:54.14.
This time propels this relay team into third place in NCAA Division II behind Adams State (9:50.91) and Colorado School of Mines (9:52.58). The Wolves, who entered the meet with the fifth fastest time in the country this season, took 6.5 seconds off their season-best time.
The Flotrack Husky Classic will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 12.
