EUGENE, Ore. - Fresh off his All-American honors last week, Western Oregon sophomore
Matt Kaino ran a time of 48.44 in the 400m dash to win the event at the Oregon Preview, Saturday (Mar. 20).
Ashley Potter gave the Wolves another win as she leaped 39-1.75 (11.93m) in the women's triple jump en route to earning an NCAA provisional qualifying standard. This is the second straight year the junior from Springfield, Ore. (Thurston High School), has earned a provisional qualifying standard. With the mark Potter moved to the top of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference performance list for the season.
Jason Slowey placed second in both the discus and the shot put. He posted a distance of 50-8 (15.44m) in the shot then registered a mark of 156-8 (47.76m) in the discus. His discus throw moved him to second in the GNAC. He already sits atop the leaderboard in the shot put.
Tim Lundy grabbed a third place finish in the pole vault after clearing 14-7.25 (4.45m). With that mark Lundy moved to the top of the GNAC performance list.
Over at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break meet in Portland,
Brett Campbell gave the Wolves a win in the 110m hurdles. He posted a time of 16.19 going into 2.3 mph winds.
Crystal McDowell placed second at the meet in the 400m dash with a time of 1:02.05, while
Dustin Boyd was second in the 200m dash on the men's side (22.52).
Next week the Western Oregon track & field team will be in the Bay Area to compete in the meet at Stanford and the San Francisco State Invitational.
