Nationally ranked:
After the men ended the indoor season as the No. 1 team in the West Region, it is now the women's turn to receive recognition. In the initial USTFCCCA poll the women's team was receiving 49.72 points to rank 23rd nationally. After slipping to No. 23 in last week's poll, the women have moved back into 22nd place.

Both the men's and women's teams are ranked in the West Region. The men are sitting second in the NCAA West Region with 387.74 points. They are also the top ranked of the five GNAC teams in the poll. The women recently flipped places with Western Washington and are now ranked 10th in the West with 186.34 points.

Seven meet the Standards:
It seems like each weekend a new member of the Western Oregon track & field team adds their name to the NCAA provisional qualifying list. The latest was Kaitlyn Reid who earned her NCAA standard in the 400m hurdles with a career-best time of 1:02.53 at the Mt. SAC Relays. Reid joins females Amanda Schumaker and Ashley Potter, and males Jason Slowey, Will Crook, Chris Reed and Brandon Snook.

Amanda Schumaker grabbed her provisional standard in the first meet of the season as this 2010 All-American looks to return to Nationals. She recorded a throw of 145-10 (44.45m) in the javelin at the Willamette Opener to ascend to the top spot in the GNAC and she has still not relinquished her spot.

Ashley Potter is also looking to get back to National for the second straight season. She registered a leap of 39-1.75 (11.93m) in the triple jump at the Oregon Preview en route to winning the event.

Chris Reed, who also participated at 2010 Nationals, earned his NCAA provisional standard in the 5k with that school record run of 14:21.14.

Brandon Snook earned his first NCAA provisional standard in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:18.82 at the SFSU Distance Carnival.

Will Crook was the fifth member of the Western Oregon track & field team to place their name on the NCAA provisional qualifying list. He posted a throw of 195-9 (59.67m) at the Willamette Invite to earn and NCAA provisional standard in the event for the second straight season.

Jason Slowey earned his provisional standard in the shot put at the John Knight Twilight but his did not settle there as he came out at the Bryan Clay Invitational and threw career-best mark of 55-2 (16.81m) to secure the No. 14 spot on the NCAA performance list.

Records fall:
When Chris Reed ran a time of 14.21.14 in the 5k at the Stanford Invitational he moved into first place in school history. This gave Reed possession of his fifth school record. He already owns the school's indoor records in the mile and the 5k. Reed also ran the fourth leg on the Wolves' All-American distance medley relay team. Reed's 5k time gave him his second outdoor record. He improved upon his school record in the 10k at the Mt. SAC Relays with a time of 29:44.77. With that mark, Reed shaved 7.62 seconds off his previous school record which he set during the 2010 season.

Weekend recap:
Mt. SAC Relays: Kaitlyn Reid completed the 400m hurdles in 1:02.53 to become the seventh member of the Western Oregon team to earn an NCAA provisional standard. That time moves her into third place on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list and into sixth place in GNAC history. Reid now stands second on the 2011 GNAC performance list and 22nd in Division II.

Chris Reed ran a 29:44.77 in the men's 10k, Thursday (Apr. 14), at the Mt. SAC Relays to earn his third NCAA provisional qualifying standard of the 2011 outdoor season.
