SEATTLE -
Ashley Potter is trying her best to make sure her name is always remembered at Western Oregon. The senior from Springfield distanced herself even further ahead in the Wolves' all-time records with a leap of 39-1 (11.91m) in the triple jump Saturday at the UW Invitational to improve three inches upon her own school record.
Potter's mark earned her an NCAA provisional qualifying standard and is the sixth longest jump in NCAA Division II coming into the weekend. It also was the second longest triple jump mark in the history of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. She also etched her name eighth in school history in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.31.
Wolves track & field fans then got to see a glimpse of the future on Saturday as sophomore
Ryan Hansen earned an NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:52.22. That mark moves him from 10th to third place on the Western Oregon all-time top 10 list. That time also won him the race at the UW Invitational over opponents from Washington, Long Beach State, Eastern Washington, Seattle Pacific and others.
Chris Olsen, who ran in the same section of the 800m as Hansen, registered the sixth fastest time in WOU history with a time of 1:53.89. With his mark Western Oregon has now recorded nine of the 10 marks on the top 10 list in the 800m over the past four seasons.
The men also saw
Brett Campbell post a personal record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.61 to move from eighth to seventh on the Wolves' all-time list.
Ryan Chapman took over eighth place in school history in the mile with a time of 4:16.16.
