SALEM, Ore. - The Western Oregon track & field team battled the conditions and the weather to claim three spots on the school's all-time top 10 list, Saturday (Mar. 31) at the Willamette Invitational.
Katie Pelchar, a sophomore from Sandy, Ore. (Sandy HS), cleared 5-6 (1.68m) in the women's high jump to win the event by nearly two inches and move into a tie for eighth in the Wolves' record books.
Seabre Church claimed the eighth spot on the Western Oregon all-time top 10 list in the javelin with a throw of 132-3 (40.30m). That throw also moved the sophomore from Florence, Ore., into the fifth spot on the 2012 GNAC performance list.
Dan Sprinkle ran a 3:54.0 in the men's 1500m to move into 10th place in the Western Oregon record books. That was the second fastest time in the GNAC this season.
Matson Hardie won the men's triple jump with a mark of 46-6.25 (14.18m).
Carraig Colahan won his heat in the men's discus with a toss of 139-10 (42.62m).
Meryl Butcher won the second section of the women's 400m dash with a time of 59.65.
Western Oregon will now prepare to travel to the Bay Area to compete in the Stanford Invitational and the SFSU Meet, Apr. 6-8.
