EUGENE, Ore. -
Katie Pelchar,
Ashley Potter and
Chris Olsen all earned NCAA provisional qualifying standards Friday (Apr. 27) at the Titan Twilight Classic.
Katie Pelchar cleared 5-7 (1.70m) in the high jump to grab her provisional qualifier and win the event. By registering her career-best mark, Pelchar moved into a tie for fifth in Western Oregon history and to sixth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference record books.
Ashley Potter also moved up the all-time GNAC performance list into second place with a career-long leap of 40-1.5 (12.23m). With that mark she became just the second member of the GNAC to ever surpass the 40 foot mark in the triple jump. That mark improved her NCAA provisional mark and school record by 4.75 inches with that mark.
Chris Olsen improved his own NCAA standard by .2 second as he raced twice around the track in 1:51.99. This was the fifth straight race Olsen has won and the third straight time he has established a new personal best.
Western Oregon also had numerous student-athletes win their individual events. Bobby Alexander and
Landon Burningham won the 100m and 400m dashes with times of 11.35 and 49.45, respectively.
Kody Rhodes took home the titles in the 110m and 400m hurdles with times of 15.32 and 54.80.
On the women's side
Megan Everetts won the women's 1500m with a season-best time of 4:42.24.
Janna Vander Meulen and
Ali Mosher placed first and second in the women's 100m hurdles with times of 1:06.26 and 1:08.39, respectively. The women's 4x100m relay team of
Madison McClung,
Lexi Pola,
Shanai Campbell and
Audrey Hellesto won their race with a time of 49.03.
Seabre Church, who already owns an NCAA provisional standard, registered a mark of 140-4 (42.78m) to win the event by almost 14 feet.
Starting tomorrow (Apr. 30) the GNAC multi events will begin.
Charlene Harber and
Kayla Dolby will be representing the Wolves in the heptathlon.
Jake Hyde and
Eric Gaines will be representing the Wolves in the decathlon.
