MONMOUTH, Ore. - Tim Lundy, Kody Rhodes and Ashley Potter joined Amanda Schumaker and Matson Hardie in the winner's circle as Great Northwest Athletic Conference champions Saturday (May 12) at the conference outdoor track & field championships.

Ashley Potter won the women's triple jump for the second time in her career with a leap of 40-9 (12.42m). That mark gave her an NCAA auto qualifying standard and the GNAC meet and conference record.  Potter came into the meet as the No. 2 seed but jumped 7.5 inches further than her career-best to win the meet.

"Ashley was impressive because she had to jump a foot further than last year to qualify for Nationals," said Western Oregon head coach Mike Johnson. "She willed herself into the National meet and along the way collected some records."

Tim Lundy became the GNAC champion in the men's pole vault when he cleared 14-8.25 (4.48m) on his second attempt at the height.

"Tim didn't win because he had the best mark, he won because he knew how to pole vault," said Johnson. "He used his brain to get his conference championship."

Kody Rhodes took home the title in the men's 110m hurdles with a career-best time of 14.95. Rhodes came over the final hurdle a step out of first but closed strong over the final 15 meters to overtake Marcus Hope of Northwest Nazarene for the GNAC title. Rhodes backed up his performance in the 110m hurdles with a second place finish in the 400m hurdles. His time of 53.62 moved him into sixth place on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list and into ninth in GNAC history.

"Rhodes was a monster out there today," noted Johnson.

Each of the conference champions earned 10 team points for Western Oregon. The men finished the meet in second place with 126.5, to edge third-place Anchorage by 3.5 points. Western Washington won the men's championship with 205 points. The Western Oregon women took fourth place with 77 points.

Although she didn't take home a title, Madison McClung turn in one of the best performances of the afternoon as she placed second in the women's 100m and 200m dashes. McClung ran a time of 12.05 in the 100m to move into second place in Western Oregon history, .01 seconds off the school record. She also secured her second-best mark in the 200m dash for the second day in a row as she registered a time of 24.80. McClung's times in the 100m and 200m dashes placed her third in GNAC history in both events.

The Western Oregon men's team also got a couple of provisional marks today. Ryan Hansen ran a time of 1:52.50 in the 800m to take second place at the event move into fourth place on the Wolves all-time top 10 list. Dan Sprinkle grabbed his NCAA provisional standard in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:51.31. That mark moved him into fifth place in school history and give Sprinkle provisional standards in the 1500m and the 3000m steeplechase.

The men's 4x400m relay team of Kody Rhodes, Chris Olsen, Anthony Yakovich and Landon Burningham earned second place in the event with a time of 3:16.29. That time places this relay team seventh in school history.

Burningham also earned a second place finish individually by running a 48.50 in the finals of the 400m dash.
