Chris Olsen captures NCAA All-American honors

Junior middle-distance runner finishes in fourth-place for the Wolves in the 800-meters.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Western Oregon track & field student-athlete Chris Olsen captured All-American honors in the 800-meters on Saturday as he raced to a fourth-place finish in the event with a time of 1:51.15 at the NCAA Indoor & Field Championships.

The mark easily established a new personal record in the event for the middle-distance runner as he used a strong kick to pass Michal Idziak (Texas A&M Kingsville) and Jermaine Blake (Lincoln) down the stretch to finish in fourth.

Drew Windke of Ashland won the event in a time of 1:48.75.

The finish marks the first career All-American honor for Olsen.

The finish allowed WOU to collect five team points as the Wolves finished in 30th as a team. Saint Augustine's captured the NCAA team title with a score of 72.
