MONMOUTH, Ore. – After earning a NCAA championship automatic mark in the javelin throw at the Oregon Preview, Western Oregon track and field student-athlete
Amanda Schumaker has been named the Red Lion Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Schumaker won the javelin at Oregon with an automatic qualifying mark of 154-9. The effort assures her of her fourth straight national meet appearance after the three-time All-American placed sixth in 2010, eighth in 2011 and third last year at the national championship.
The selection marks the fourth time this season a WOU track & field athlete has been named for the weekly honor as
Kody Rhodes,
Madison McClung and
Shane Brooks were named athletes of the week following their performances at the Willamette Opener three weeks ago.
WOU will return to action on Friday, March 22, when a small contingent of Wolves travel to compete at the Willamette Multi's in Salem, Ore.
