PORTLAND, Ore. – Three Western Oregon track and field student-athletes earned GNAC Player of the Week honors for their performances at the Willamette Opener, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Kody Rhodes and Madison McClung took home track honors while Shane Brooks was named field athlete of the week on the men's side.

Rhodes won a pair of events at the Willamette Opener to take home the weekly honor as he won the 110-meter hurdles (14.93) and 400-meter hurdles (55.03).  His time in the 110-meter hurdles missed breaking into the GNAC All-Time Top 10 by .01 seconds.

Meanwhile, McClung also won a pair of events as she captured the 100 meter (12.28) and 200 meter (25.66) titles at the Willamette Opener in grabbing the GNAC opening weekend lead in both events.

Finally, Shane Brooks finished in second in the javelin at Willamette with a NCAA provisional national qualifying mark of 203-11.  Brooks and teammate Justin Larson, who also posted a PNQ of 202-1, became the 12th and 13th athletes in GNAC history to throw 200 feet.  Brooks' mark ranks eighth on the GNAC all-time list.

It marks the second consecutive week numerous Wolves took home the weekly track and field honors after Chris Olsen and Matson Hardie were named GNAC athletes of the week following their performance at the SPU Last Chance Qualifier.

WOU returns to action this week with a pair of meets as Olsen will run in the 800-meters at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, March 8, at 3:50 p.m. while the rest of the Wolves travel to Eugene, Ore., for the Lane Preview on Saturday, March 9.
