BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Western Oregon track and field student-athlete
Chris Olsen will represent the Wolves at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships when he runs in the 800-meters at 3:50 p.m. on Friday, March 8, at the Birmingham Cross Plex.
Olsen is seeded ninth in the event and third in his heat after running a season-best time of 1:51.43 at the Seattle Pacific Last Chance Qualifier on Feb. 23. The junior finished in second-place at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 1:53.54 in the event, finishing just behind teammate
Ryan Hansen for the league title.
Olsen will run in the second heat of three at the NCAA championship as the top two from each hear plus the next two best times will advance to the finals on Saturday, March 9, at 3:10 p.m.
Drew Windle of Ashland is the top-seed in the event with a time of 1:48.82 as Savieri Ngidhi of Abilene Christian holds the meet record with a time of 1:47.78 in 1995.
