MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon track & field team completed one of its busiest weekends of the year on Saturday as the Wolves wrapped up competition at six meets in California and Oregon. The Wolves managed a number of quality results at the Mt. Sac Relays, Long Beach State Invitational, Brian Clay Invitational, Oregon Relays, Lewis and Clark Pioneer Invite and the Cougar Open.
At the Mt. Sac Relays, WOU had to opportunity to compete among the top collegiate athletes in the country as
Ryan Hansen highlighted the Wolves performances as he finished third in his heat of the 800-meters with a season-best time of 1:52.43.
In the javelin throw,
Amanda Schumaker finished in fourth with her toss of 147-08 while
Seabre Church posted a mark of 138-09.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational,
Bryce Leedham highlighted the WOU results as his time of 22.03 won his heat of the 200-meters while establishing a new personal best.
Meanwhile, at the Long Beach State Invitational, WOU had a number of good results, including several in the 110-meter hurdles as
Brett Campbell established a new personal record with a time of 15.14. The women's 4x100 team also had a strong showing as the team of
Audrey Hellesto, McClung,
Mariah Crumpler and
Shanai Campbell finished with a time of 48.12.
McClung followed up a strong performance at the Mt. Sac Relays in the 100-meters (12.21) with a time of 12.12 to establish a new season best. The men also had a strong showing in the 100-meters as
Jeff Howard clocked a time of 10.86 with
Bryce Leedham establishing a new personal record with a mark of 10.89.
In the 400-meters at the Lewis and Clark Invite, WOU's Stan Wester won the event with a time of 55.98 while
Bailey Beeson won the event on the women's side, posting a mark of 59.86.
At the Oregon Relays,
Matson Hardie made his 2013 outdoor triple jump debut, winning the event with a mark of 46-04.75.
Finally, at the Cougar Open,
Carraig Colahan finished up a wild weekend as he established a new personal record in the shot put with a mark of 47.06.
WOU will return to action on Friday, April 26, when the Wolves compete at the Oregon State Invitational in Corvallis, Ore., and the Pacific Twilight in Forest Grove, Ore.
