Amanda Evola named to All-West Region Squad

Sophomore outfielder earns first-team honors after an outstanding season.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.
– Western Oregon softball's Amanda Evola has been tabbed a first-team selection on the 2013 Daktronics, Inc. NCAA Division II All-West Region team it was announced on Monday.

Evola, a unanimous, first-team all-conference selection, earns her first regional honor after leading the Wolves in nearly every category during the 2013 season. The outfielder ranked third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a .390 batting average and tied for the league lead with 10 home runs.

The sophomore ranked among the league's best in a number of categories as she led the conference in doubles (17) and slugging percentage (.677) and finished the season third in RBI (44) and on-base percentage (.451).

Evola's selection marks the sixth time a WOU softball athlete has been tabbed first-team all-region and it is the first all-region selection for the Wolves since Bailey Rueck in 2010.

As one of the 14 members of the all-region first-team, Evola will be placed on the NCAA Division II All-America ballot. The announcement of the All-America teams will be made on Tuesday, May 22.

Stephanie Jimenez of Cal State Dominquez Hills was named West Region Pitcher of the Year while Chrissy Stalk of Humboldt State as named West Region Player of the Year.
