PORTLAND, Ore. – Five Western Oregon University student-athletes were named Red Lion Great Northwest Athletic Conference Players of the Week Monday.

The Wolves softball and baseball teams swept their respective sports weekly honors. WOU track and field also received recognition this week.

Raina Reece was tabbed the conference co-Player of the Week. The freshman hit three home runs and drove in 10 runs as the Wolves stayed on top the GNAC standings sweeping two games from Saint Martin's and splitting a pair of contests with Central Washington. She also had a single and double and posted a .385 batting average (5-of-13) and 1.176 slugging average.

Kelli Demianew received the Pitcher of the Week title. The junior didn't allow an earned run in pitching the Wolves to two victories including a 4-0 shutout of Central Washington Sunday. In 15 innings, she allowed 15 hits, but just a pair of unearned runs extending her string of innings without allowing an earned run to 26.  She walked two and fanned three.

Parker Miles was selected the baseball Player of the Week. The senior hit 8-for-16 with four doubles, three runs scored and a pair of RBI as the Wolves took a four-game series from Saint Martin's 3-1. Miles logged a dozen total bases and drew a pair of walks, leading to an on-base percentage of .556. The second baseman also stole a pair of bases and struck out just once in 18 plate appearances, while handling all 12 of his fielding chances perfectly. On the season, Miles has committed just one error in 74 chances for a fielding percentage of .986.

This week's Pitcher of the Week was Eric Huson. The junior tossed a two-hit shutout in the Wolves' 5-0 win over Saint Martin's on Sunday, striking out five batters and walking none. Huson improved to 4-0 on the season and the shutout was the second complete-game shutout of the season in the GNAC. Among qualifying starters, he has the lowest ERA at 1.00 and the lowest opponent batting average at .171. The junior has struck out 26 batters over his 45 innings, and only eight of the 27 hits he has allowed have been for extra bases (all doubles). Huson's 0.82 WHIP is also tops in the GNAC among qualifying starters and he is one of just two starters to have a sub-1.00 mark in that category.

Brady Beagley was named the men's track Athlete of the Week. He finished ninth in the 1,500 meters at the Oregon Preview in a provisional national qualifying time of 3:50.72. That time ranks fourth in WOU history and is the second best so far this spring in the GNAC.
