FULL RESULTS

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Western Oregon University student-athlete Tyrell Williams returned to the stadium where he made plenty of memorable moments in football. But, it's what he did on the McArthur Field track that left a lasting impression Friday.

For the third consecutive race, Williams broke a meet record. After setting new marks at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival in the 100 and 200-meter races last week, he recorded the new standard in the 400 meters at the John Knight Twilight. The junior ran to a 48.67 finish, breaking the meet's seven-year-old record in his first ever 400-meter attempt. The time is currently fourth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and just off the WOU all-time list. It's also his third automatic qualifying mark to the conference championships.

"It feels really good to set another meet record," Williams said. "I've been working really hard in practice, coming off of an injury, so it definitely feels good. I need to keep working, getting faster, and close races as fast as I can."

Williams later anchored the Wolves' 4x400-meter relay to a first place finish. The WOU quartet finished with a time of 3:24.14.

Ryan Hansen raced to an NCAA Div. II National Championship provisional qualifying mark in the 1,500 meters. The senior placed third in the event, but his personal best time of 3:52.78 moves him to 10th on the WOU all-time list.

In the men's javelin, Justin Larson placed second, but hit a provisional qualifying mark for the national championships. His fifth throw of 206-10 (63.04 meters) is currently fourth in the conference. It also moves the sophomore from fifth to third on the WOU all-time list.

Emmi Collier hit another national provisional qualifying mark for the Wolves. Her toss of 45-3.75 (13.81m) is fourth on the WOU all-time list, and won the event Friday. She hit the mark with her second throw.

In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Kody Rhodes shattered the meet record. His time of 14.86 was well ahead of the previous mark set in 2007. Rhodes' season-best mark of 14.61, set last week, leads the conference currently and is a NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying mark. Brett Campbell placed second at 15.54, and Dustin Camarillo's time of 15.61 provisionally qualified him for the GNAC Championships.

After winning the women's 100 meters, Madison McClung ran the second fastest time this season in the GNAC in the 200 meters. The senior ran a 12.29 in the 100, and followed it up with a 25.10 in the 200. Both times are conference auto marks. McClung also helped the WOU 4x100-meter relay team claim first place with a time of 49.93.

Rochelle Pappel, another member of the 4x100-meter relay team, won the women's 100-meter hurdles by nearly a second and improved her GNAC provisional mark at 14.83. Charlene Harber took first in the women's long jump with a GNAC provisional mark of 17-8.25 (5.39m). Her mark is currently the top leap in the conference.

In the men's 800 meters, Josh Hanna won the event with a time of 1:52.75. He remains the second fastest in the event in the GNAC, behind Hansen. Brady Beagley set a personal record in the race at 1:53.63. He finished fourth in the event, but ran to a conference provisional mark. He has NCAA provisional marks in the 1,500, 5,000, and 3,000-meter steeplechase already this season.

Matson Hardie won the men's triple jump at 45-0.25 (13.72m). Kyle Lane was second with a GNAC provisional mark of 44-4.25 (13.52m). Rebecca Laible's second place finish in the women's triple jump is the third best mark currently in the conference. Her mark of 37-10.5 (11.54m) is short of her personal best of 38-9.75, which is fourth on the WOU all-time list.

A select group of Wolves will travel to the Pacific University Luau meet Saturday. Results will be posted on WOUWolves.com following the meet.
