BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – At the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, juniors
Stephanie Stuckey and
Badane Sultessa both advanced to Saturday's finals in the women's one mile run and the men's 800 meter run that is being held inside the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Stuckey began the day for the Wolves, as she fifth overall in Heat #2 and clocked the ninth fastest time of the race with a mark of 4:54.79 to advance to Saturday's finals that will be held at 4:15 p.m. (Central Time). Sultessa posted the fastest time in the men's 800 meter run with a blistering 1:50.73 that tied with Ashland's Drew Windle before it was broken by going to the one-thousandth of a second time that showed Sultessa with a 1:50.722 compared to Windle's 1:50.729. Sultessa's time broke the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) record of 1:51.15 that was set by former Wolf Chris Olsen in 2013. In the third and final heat, Sultessa and Windle run neck-and-neck with Sultessa posting a lifetime best time and moving within 1.03 seconds of the school record. Sultessa will run the finals tomorrow at 5:10 p.m. (Central Time).
Senior
