MEET SCHEDULEACCEPTED ENTRIESHEAT SHEETSMONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon University women's and men's track and field teams host their lone home meet of the regular season at the annual John Knight Twilight Friday, April 10.
The meet, which is celebrating its 11th year, was renamed for the former WOU Head Coach John Knight in 2008. Knight coached WOU's track and field program from 1989 to 2003 and had 17 individual national champions during that time, and won national coach of the year honors in 2003 (NCAA) and 1993 (NAIA).
"We love this meet," Western Oregon Head Track & Field Coach
Mike Johnson said. "It's important to us because a lot of us know John Knight. He was a great coach and is a great guy. We love having this meet in his honor."
In his collegiate career, Knight coached over 250 All-Americans and was named a conference coach of the year for eight consecutive seasons from 1996-2003 in the Cascade Conference, Pacific West Conference and Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Knight is a member of the NAIA track and field Hall of Fame.
Western Oregon welcomes a strong contingent of competition once again this season to McArthur Field. The field spans NCAA Div. I to junior colleges, along with several club teams and unattached participants. Some of the schools competing are Oregon State, Portland State, Willamette, Concordia, Northwest Christian, and College of Idaho.
Four members of the Wolves' men's team –
Zach Holloway,
Justin Larson,
Badane Sultessa, and
Cody Warner – have each reached provisional marks for the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
