Competing across two states, the Western Oregon Track & Field team saw numerous personal bests, seven NCAA Provisional marks and one NCAA Automatic qualifier from sophomore runner
David Ribich in the 1500-meter race at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.

Ribich competed in a heat with NCAA Division I talent and won the heat with a WOU school-record time of 3:43.41. His time was a personal best by seven seconds and surpassed the previous school record set in 1987 by Wes Tilgner at 3:44.27. Ribich's time is the second fastest at the Division II level this season.

In the same 1500-meter race,
Sam Naffziger ran a provisional qualifying time of 3:49.63 which was also a personal best by a fraction of a second. On the women's side,
Stephanie Stuckey ran a time of 4:33.22 to slide underneath the provisional qualifying threshold.

The Wolves also had great showings at the Mt. SAC Relays at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif.
Suzanne Van De Grift won her heat in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:11.76. Her run was the fourth best time in the WOU record books and the fastest time since 2011.

Cody Warner sprinted his way to the second fastest time ever run in the 200 meters with a time of 21.15, another NCAA provisional qualifier.
Josh Dempsey had the third fastest time among Division II runners in the 800 meters at 1:51.18.
Jeremy Moore increased his personal best in the discus to 159-10 (48.72m).

Also in Southern California, WOU competitors met more high-level athletes at the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State.
Josh Dempsey ran a time of 1:52.02 in the 800 meters.
Kenny Klippel posted a discus personal best at 149-3 (45.50m).
Justin Larson eclipsed the 200-foot barrier for the first time in the javelin.

Finally on the weekend, WOU participated in the Pacific Open in Forest Grove, Ore.
Devonte Woods finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 22.83.
Madeline Bernard and
Hailey Sears each competed in the 100 and 200 meters. Bernard posted the fastest time in the 100 meters at 13.11 while Sears took WOU's top time in the 200 meters at 26.76.

Western Oregon will continue to prepare for the GNAC Track & Field Championships competing at the Oregon State High Performance Meet on April 29-30 in Corvallis.
