Western Oregon head men's basketball coach
Jim Shaw announced the addition of Rodrigo Puliceno to the Wolves basketball program and the 2016-17 recruiting class. Puliceno is the third member of the upcoming class and will be eligible to play for Western Oregon next season.
Â
The 6-foot-5, 245 pound power forward played at Cañada Community College in Redwood City, Calif. for the past two years. In his sophomore year, Puliceno averaged 13.9 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists for the Colts while shooting 51.5 percent from the field, nearly 40 percent from behind the 3-point arc and 73 percent from the foul line.
Â
"We're excited about Rod," Shaw said. "He comes from a great program and has a level of skill and strength that is hard to find."
Â
Among the honors Puliceno received this year include team MVP, First-Team All Coast-North Conference
and Defensive Player of the Year.
Â
His coach at Cañada, Mike Reynoso, shared the following about Puliceno: "Rod is a unique player. He is an excellent defender, highly skilled, has a very good motor and is extremely competitive. Western Oregon is getting a special kid and player."
Â
The third incoming recruit to Western Oregon, Puliceno will join Tristan Miguel and Ryan Lacey of Auburn Mountainview High School on the roster for the 2016-17 season.
