FULL JOHN KNIGHT TWILIGHT RESULTS

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Western Oregon University track & field returned home in a big way, placing first in both the men's and women's sides in the 10th annual John Knight Twilight meet on Friday (April 8) at McArthur Field. It was the first home meet for the Wolves this year, in preparation for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships to be hosted by WOU on May 13-14.

WOU, hoping to make a trip to the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in Bradenton, Fla., had good showing among the vast competition disciplines Friday. The Wolves women scored 164 points to defeat league rival Concordia (117) and the men posted 133 points to best Division I Portland State (84).

Four total NCAA provisional marks were hit on the day for Western Oregon, two on each of the men's and women's sides. Wesley Gray hit a provisional mark with his meet record triple jump of 14.70m (48-2 ¾) on his second attempt. The leap was the third-longest triple jump on record for WOU. Justin Larson, an All-American last year, eclipsed the 60-meter mark in the javelin to finish third with an effort of 60.04m (197-0). In her second-place finish in the shot put, Emmi Collier moved up to third place all-time with a 14.16m (46-5 ½) finale. Rachael Huffman cracked the top-10 in the javelin at 42.55m (139-7) in the fifth round of the second flight.

The Wolves also had seven event wins, six individual and one relay squad. Cody Warner pulled the double in the 100 meters and the long jump. Warner took the sprint with a time of 10.92 seconds to edge Carlos Ortiz of Concordia and Spenser Schmidt of Portland State, who both ran at 11 seconds flat. Then in the long jump, Warner posted a personal best, with the claps of the McArthur fans behind him, in round five at 6.89m (22-7 ½). Kaleb Dobson won the 110-meter hurdles by two-tenths of a second with a time of 15.12. Zach Holloway took victory in the steeplechase (9:33.01) with teammate David Cornish coming in second.

For the women, Suzanne Van De Grift led a trio of runners in the 800m with a time of 2:14.28. She was followed by Stephanie Stuckey (2:15.26) and Bailey Beeson (2:15.52). Then, in the 4x400 relay, Van De Grift and Stuckey ran the first two legs while Megan Rose and Olivia Woods finished up the last two laps to win the race with a time of 3:56.78, the ninth fastest time at WOU and nearly 10 second faster than second place.

Aaron Whitaker had two good showings – placing second in the 400 and third in the 200. Jeremy Moore took fourth in the shot put and discus while placing sixth in the hammer. Woods and Rose finished 2-3 in the women's 400.

Western Oregon will be back in action across the entire West Coast next week participating in five different events. Beginning Thursday, April 14, the Wolves will compete in the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif. On Friday, April 15, Azusa Pacific hosts the Bryan Clay Invitational. A trio of competitions looms on Saturday, April 16 – the Oregon Relays in Eugene, the Pacific Open in Forest Grove and the Long Beach State Invitational in California.

Results from every meet will be posted on WOUwolves.com following event completion.
