EUGENE, Ore. – The Western Oregon track & field team got a chance to perform at legendary Hayward Field Friday at the 2017 Oregon twilight hosted by the University of Oregon. Junior
David Ribich placed first in the men's 1,500-meter invitational race and
Dustin Nading took first at the same distance in the B section.

Ribich ran a time of 3:45.01 to edge Oregon's Mick Stanovsek, a NCAA Division I Indoor All-American. It is the second consecutive win at 1,500 for Ribich after taking first at the Oregon State High Performance in a school record time of 3:41.05. He remains the Division II leader as the only runner under 3:42 this year.

In the second section of the 1,500, Nading won by a second and a half posting a time of 3:50.24, a NCAA provision qualifying effort.

Aaron Whitaker finished fourth in the men's 400m race at 48.90.
AJ Holmberg also took fourth in the 800m, clocking his second-fastest time of the season at 1:52.46.

Grayson Burke had a pair of second-place finishes with one in the 400 meters and another as part of the 4 x 100 relay team. Burke had the top time among collegiate athletes posting 58.67 in the 400 meters, her second-fastest time of the season. She then ran the anchor leg for the Wolves in the 4 x 100 relay where the Wolves combined to post a time of 49.68.

A pair of third-place results paced the men's field action on Friday.
Alani Troutman had his best effort in his fourth attempt in the long jump with a mark of 6.85m/22-5.75.
Wesley Gray had four consistent triple jumps and used his second jump of 13.97m/45-10 to make the podium.

Western Oregon returns to action tomorrow, May 6, at the Linfield Open in McMinnville. Field events begin with women's hammer at 10 a.m. while the men's steeplechase kicks off WOU on the track at 11:15 a.m.
