CORVALLIS, Ore.—Despite battling wet conditions in Benton County, several members of the Western Oregon track & field teams posted season best marks while closing out competition at the OSU High Performance Meet on Saturday.
The WOU sprinting corps took advantage of hot heats with the bulk of the season-best tallies.
Hailey Sears sped to a pair of collegiate bests in the short sprints. Though the times were declared wind-aided, Sears clocked a 12.79 in the 100 and a 26.35 in the 200.
Racing under the legal limits in the 100-meter hurdles,
Darian Wilson crossed in 15.73 and
Sara Madden a 16.03 for lifetime bests.
Jackson Stallard, meanwhile, established a new career best with a 16.35 in the 110-meter hurdles to drop his former low of 16.54.
Moving to the 400,
Cody Warner topped out at 49.12 in the flat 400 to erase his former fastest of 49.56. Warner now stands with a No. 8 ranking in the GNAC.
In the 800,
David Ribich topped the elite invitational field with a 1:50.52.
Josh Dempsey placed seventh in the section with a season-best 1:52.25. Winning the second section,
Dustin Nading uncorked a career best of 1:52.11 to nip the NCAA DII provisional barrier of 1:52.16. Finishing shy of his season best,
AJ Holmberg placed fourth in the second section at 1:53.22. The WOU quartet now holds four of the top five times in the conference in the 800.
Soaring 22-11 3/4 (7.00m) in the long jump,
Alani Troutman had one of the highest placings of the day for the Wolves with a runner-up result.
In the javelin,
Halie Korff tossed a career-best 134-10 (41.10m) while
Sheila Limas De La Cruz unleashed a season best 128-7 (39.20m).
The Wolves will travel to several meets next week, including the GNAC Multi-Event Championships, Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational and the Oregon Twilight. The following week, Western Oregon will host the GNAC Championships at McArthur Field on May 11-12.
