[Final regional rankings]
MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon men's track & field team has been ranked second in the USTFCCCA Division II West Region poll throughout the season, with the women finishing the year ranked ninth.
The men justified the USTFCCCA's No. 2 ranking and 437.48 poll points by winning the 2011 Great Northwest Athletic Conference outdoor championship, and having four men take capture individual titles. The men's team had nine individuals earn 13 all-region honors, with
Jason Slowey (shot and discus) and
Chris Reed (10k) each posted this the second-best marks in the West this year.
The women took home the No. 9 spot in the final USTFCCCA regional poll with 181.88 points. There were four women that took home all-region honors including
Ashley Potter who took first in the triple jump and
Annan Applebee who captured second in the 800m.
The Western Oregon track & field team sent three men and three women to represent the Wolves at the 2011 NCAA Division II Championships in Turlock, Calif., May 26-28.
